Paradox

If you've been following me for a while, you'll know that art has been absolutely transformative for me as I've navigated infertility and loss.

This piece is stylistically quite different from a lot of my work. I was feeling very inspired by the magnolia tree in my garden. It was planted in 2020 after my first miscarriage, in memory of our little one, Wren. The tree is still very young, but in spring it produces the most stunning dark purple flowers. It has come to represent all of our lost little ones.

Every time it blossoms, my heart swells and I feel the paradox of happiness and sadness all at once.
