Made you look
Made you look
This piece just feels a bit cheeky, doesn't it? Its bold colours just sing, and those imperfect shapes draw your eye in over and over again.
When creating this little gem, I began with an imperfectly applied background ( my fave way to start) then used the visible brushstrokes and areas of light and shade as a guide for mark-making. I painted irregular and unusual shapes freehand, then amplified them by surrounding the shapes with complementary colours. These surrounding lines organically formed patterns that became irregular shapes of their own! To complete the piece, I added layers and layers of paint to ensure clean lines and opaque colours.
90 x 90cm
Acrylic on canvas
Unframed (and the art continues around the edges and looks awesome. I don't think this piece is enhanced by a frame at all.)
